Very rarely do I snap a pic of a business sign, but THIS ONE made me truly laugh out loud:

The business owner was able to make a point and yet show some personality and make customers feel comfortable. That’s brilliant marketing! The fact is… people want to do business with people they know and like.
It’s the same thing w/ social media. You don’t want to chase people away with intimidating posts and finger pointing. Instead, let your followers get to know YOU. For instance, occasionally post a picture of something you find funny (as long as it doesn’t contradict your brand image) or a personal story. Those are often the things that get the most conversations going. Remember… you’re wanting to engage your followers because that will bring you ROR – Return On Relationships.
A perfect example? My most popular post this week on both facebook & twitter:
Heard a great quote from a dear friend today: I work 80 hours a week for myself so I don’t have to work 40 for someone else. LOL!!!
This simple line got close to 50 likes, comments & retweets!!
It’s hopefully not the most important thing I’ve said all week. But it definitely struck a chord & made a connection.
So, I challenge you to pull back the curtain and show your followers the REAL you. Being approachable and keeping your sense of humor are great marketing tools to make new friends AND attract customers.
