Last night before I went to bed, I was beating myself up. The bottom line: I was running myself ragged and guilting myself all for what? Just a few days in Vegas?! Why this was more than JUST a trip…

I have many peeps who ask me why I picked the title “Girlfriends 2.0″. Basically, it’s only an upgraded version of Girlfriends who can help you survive and thrive a layoff, divorce, health issue, natural disaster or whatever may come your way.

My life changed forever when my News Director told me, “We don’t know if we can afford to renew your contract. It depends on the economy.” What? I’d been in TV News for 20; did I even know how to do anything else? Luckily, my Girlfriend Support Network convinced me I could not only survive, but to thrive these changing times. I want to empower you to do the same!

Why is my blog called Reinvention 2.0? When I found myself scratching my head and trying to figure out what I was going to do after a layoff, I realized simply a career change wasn’t enough. I needed to totally reboot my goals and upgrade my thinking in order to reinvent myself during these challenging times.

Wow.. this last year was nuts! In January 2009, I was perfectly happy in my role as an Emmy winning Investigative Reporter and Anchor when I suddenly learned I might get laid off because of the economy. What?! I planned to work at the TV station through at least two face lifts! (You think I’m kidding, but I’m not! This was the only career I’ve known for 20 years.) But life had other plans. By July, when my contract ran out, I was unemployed. Did I even know how to do anything else?!
